Girl Scout Program
The traditional and most well known Girl Scouting experience is through the Girl Scout troops. These troops are led by well-trained adult volunteers - the backbone of Girl Scouting. Girl Scouting is also provided through a number of alternative venues, such as collaborations with other community, youth-serving groups and during- and after-school programs. In Girl Scouting, Discover+Connect+Take Action=Leadership. All Girl Scout experiences are intentionally designed to tie to one or more of the 15 national leadership outcomes, or benefits, categorized under the three keys to leadership. This means that in every Girl Scout program delivered to girls of each age group, there will be a Discover, Connect and Take Action component. This ensures a consistent experience for girls across the country.

  • Discover: Girls understand themselves and their values and use their knowledge and skills to explore the world.
  • Connect: Girls care about, inspire, and team with others locally and globally.
  • Take Action: Girls act to make the world a better place.

Girl Scout Programs are developed for all girl members ages 5-17.
They are created based on Pathways and Journeys.

    PATHWAYS
Girl Scout Pathways are flexible ways that girls and adults join Girl Scouts. There are six different pathways.

CAMP: Girls participate in day or resident camps with a focus on the out-of-doors and/or environmental education.
EVENTS: Girls participate in events (e.g. career day).
SPECIAL INTEREST: Girls participate in a series of programs with the same group of girls relating to a specific theme or purpose.
TRAVEL: Girls plan, earn money, prepare and participate in regional, national and international trips.
TROOPS: Girls participate in a series of programs with the same group of girls over the course of an academic year.
VIRTUAL: Girls participate in interactive, high-quality program activities in a safe, secure, online environment supplemented by live events.

    JOURNEYS
Girl Scout Journeys engage girls in discovering themselves, connecting with others and taking action to make the world a better place. In the premier Journey, taking action has a starring role. Journeys unfold through a sequence of activities and discussions that add up to a great adventure.
Girl Scouting builds girls of courage, confidence and character who make the world a better place.
